10.12.20: Here's Your Mail, Debbie.

^ ok so our cool neighbor's mail somehow ended up in our mailbox and when we went to give it to her at her door, she asked us to teach her! It was so awesome! We aren't  allowed to teach people that live in our building UNLESS they come to us. Also, the sisters we live with are going to teach her bc she is obviously English speaking, but it was awesome that God put her mail in our mailbox so that we could go to her door and have her ask to talk more with us!

We got to do more service at Foodshare, but this time we packed all the produce into grocery bags. We also got to help at another place called "gifts of love" and they let people come take food and clothes, so we just sorted clothes. My favorite part of both of those was talking to people that we were working with. Some people just have extra time and they want to do service and some people were doing it for college degrees, but everyone has a crazy life story and people are SO INTERESTING.

Luca came to church today!
Major shout-out to a 2 month recent convert named Jeffrey (who speaks only English) and picked Luca up for church (who only speaks Portuguese). I can only imagine the awkward car ride. Also yes, our church was in English, so idk if he understood anything but we gave him a Book of Mormon and he said he really liked it.

41 But behold, because of the exceedingly great length of the war between the Nephites and the Lamanites many had become hardened, because of the exceedingly great length of the war; and many were softened because of their afflictions, insomuch that they did humble themselves before God, even in the depth of humility

I love this scripture bc everyone went through the same war, but some people let it make them miserable and angry, and other people decided to be humbled and trust in God. The choice is ours, and there is definitely an easier and better one, but we decide.

Grateful: in-person church, the forest behind our house, a lady who found sister simpson's nametag in the forest and called the bishop to return it to us (oops), FALL!

Tchau tchau,
Sister Barton
