9.16 & 9.23.19: Paçoca On the Street

Image
9.16.19: This week I was walking on the street (rare occurence, but it happened), and I kicked something and I looked down and it was an unopened Paçoca, It´s basically peanut butter with lots of sugar but they don´t have peanut butter here so it's the next best thing. I definitely ate it off the ground. It was a gift from God.  Today this cute couple in our ward took us to run at the beach and it was super fun. Afterwards we did something super crazy and unique that no one will ever guess... ate açaí.  Basically nothing much has changed here.  A quick thought about a talk that Sister Nelson gave:  She talked about how we need to have zero contention in our lives because contention is the spirit of the devil. She talked about how we need to receive personal revelation but if we have any contention it will hinder our progress. It was super awesome.  _____________________ 9.23.19 Another week later... sixty large eggs for twenty reais    {Friendly google translate from Amy.} ^^There´s a car with eggs that always drives super slow in the middle of the road and it blasts that.  One day we had lunch with this old couple that is recently engaged and they are super bizarre. The guy literally wears a red suit to church with red leather shoes and a red tie. At any given time he WILL be wearing red. Anyways, the whole time they made us watch these super awkward videos of them singing karaoke together. These vids were pure gold. They were extremely awkward and horrible singers! (I am probs worse) but old people singing loves songs tops it. Idk if they are on youtube or facebook but you should all try to look it up (Adria Garcia).  It has been raining a ton here and is actually super cold which I didn't think happened in Brasil.  We had our first transfer! I am still in Guaruja with the same companion which is super nice! I finally feel like I know the ...

Victor called us last week and told us that he needed to confess a sin to us...we were kind of scared for a second but he told us that he bought 6 happy meals at mcdonald´s and then he remembered it was Sunday and he felt super bad. He gave them all to homeless people so he figured that it was probably fine bc it was a good deed. Also he assured us that he doesn´t even like mcdonald´s and  he doesn´t even know why he wanted it but he just wanted to make sure he was all good and hadn't done anything too bad. Hahaha. The other night we were walking and we contacted this guy on the street we live on. He asked us where we were from (that never happens, ever) and my companion told him (Brazil) and then I said California, and he said "Oh, I was just in Santa Cruz for 2 months" (I literally only said CA i swear) and I almost threw up bc I realized that we are in Brazil, but he is literally our neighbor and he was in Santa Cruz for TWO MONTHS.  A few weeks ago, this guy ...

Eliane was baptized on Sunday! She is the best! She has two daughters that are super cute. Her husband does not want anything to do with us and wouldn't even come to her baptism which I felt super bad for her. We are working on that though. My companion gave her that purple dress and she was SO HAPPY. she said that she had been preoccupied with what she was going to wear bc she felt like she didn't have anything nice enough (most people here are pretty poor) so it was def a blessing that my comp gave her that dress bc she wouldn't have told us that.  We had another split exchange thing and I was with another girl that I was actually in the same ward with at BYU. It was really fun and hilarious bc neither one of us really understood everything that was going on. Obvi we ate açai but i probably don´t need to write that anymore. The whole time we were just laughing that we were talking to people in Brazil and 3 months ago we both didn't know portuguese but we were just...
