8.10.20: No effort is Wasted

Image
This week we got to have zone conference IN PERSON which was actually so nice. I have seen a lot of missionaries on zoom and Facebook videos but we finally got to meet people IN PERSON! We talked a lot about how to make online lessons more engaging and find out what people really need. We also talked a lot about how to make our Facebook page better which was really funny because I felt like I was in a marketing meeting or something.  Sister Kent and I were asked to to talk for 5 mins about how "no effort is wasted", it was really cool to prepare for it and we shared 1 Corinthians 3:6-9 if you want to go look it up it's pretty fire. Anyways, we don't always see the fruit of our efforts but as we know "the Lord loves effort". WELL, he let us know that our efforts aren't wasted because 6 of our friends watched our church zoom meeting on Sunday and it was a miracle. If you looked up the scripture you'll get it but "Barton planted, Kent watered and...

8.3.20: How is it August?

I have officially been in Pawtucket for 2 months in quarantine! Woah! not what I was expecting.  This week i was messaging people on FB and i started talking to this lady. After I told her that I am a missionary she said: "I was baptized in this church when i was 18 but I lost my way". I was so surprised but I called her and we got to know her better and eventually were able to refer her to the missionaries where she lives. It was so cool to see how God helps people find what they need at the right time.  We had some good lessons this week where we planned to teach one thing but part way through we changed what we were teaching because people opened up and shared their difficulties with us. We are always so surprised how the spirit helps us know what to teach and when to change our plans.  Yesterday 3 members decided it was their turn to bring us dinner. It was so funny. Within an hour they all called us and we couldn't stop laughing. Our branch is really cool but organiz...

7.27.20: Phase 1 or Something

Apparently we are in "phase 1" of being let out but all that really means is we can meet in person for district council and if people want to we can teach them face to face at the church building.  We are teaching an awesome lady named Elisa. She is super fun to talk to and we dropped off a book of Mormon to her house. It was so nice to actually meet her in person. When we taught her about it she said "where can I get one of these books" *well we can give you one if you want (: k fine we can drop it off tmrw i guess.   Random quotes from the week: Start where you're at (love this) "Boiiwonder you're about to be boi baptized"  -Kent (we started teaching a guy from FB and that's his FB name hah) "So many people say to me, sister Kent your always on that work grind...and I say to them ...I know" -Kent  "Wow. I guess common sense isn't so common anymore is it?" -Kent  Last p-day we went to a cute beach town called Narraganse...

My old companion Sister Lawlor (lala) got transferred out of our area and her comp. Sister Sorge got a new one, only after two weeks! So now there are 4 of us that live together and all of us are recycled from Brasil. I have been here the longest out of all 4 of us which is hilarious bc it's only been 6 weeks or so. We just talk about Brasil all the time and laugh about how weird this is that we are all here now.  On Monday we decided that we were gonna go to the Cheesecake Factory bc we called them and they said we could actually go in and sit down. So that's pretty much all that happened on Monday, but it was so nice to feel kind of normal!  This week was pretty much the same: lots of phone calls, video calls, Facebook finding, zoom meetings, Zumba, daily walks and lots of good laughs.  One of my favorite things about doing everything over zoom is the fact that a lot of the time we are muted so sister Kent and I just make random commentary and try not to laugh too hard ...
