8.31.20: 99 To Go
It's a tradition in this mission to take a picture at this restaurant called 99, when you have 99 more days of your mission. It was kind of funny bc I just walked in and said "can I have a to-go box please?" The lady looked so confused but she gave me one and then we left!
Scarlet!
We were teaching a lady named Roxy who didn't really seem all that interested in what we had to say, so we asked her if she knew anyone that might like a message about Jesus Christ. She told us she has a friend named Scarlet who would and we told her to send us her contact! We called scarlet and got a whole (CRAZY) life story. Scarlet was so happy to hear from us and so excited to start changing her life. We did have to transfer her to the English elders, but she is already way happier and the elders love teaching her!
Helder!
We taught Helder about living prophets this week and we read a quote from President Nelson about learning how to receive personal revelation. He thought it was so cool that God cares enough to still have a living prophet and that the prophet wants us to learn how to hear his voice. He said "I am so happy to know about this, I will try to learn how to do this in my life"
Scripture/quotes this week:
3 John 1:4
"I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth"
"Here now"
This quote is super short but I like how it reminds us to focus on where we are and what we are doing bc it's so easy to just think about the future or what we want/hope to do later instead of enjoying where we are NOW. Still working on this (:
One more quote:
"Because the thing about contention is, contention doesn't listen. No matter how perfectly crafted your response is, it's never interested in learning; anything said is just giving it another opportunity to get another jab in" Al Fox Carraway
I thought this was SO COOL. When we are angry, we never actually listen to what other people have to say and learn about their perspective or side of the argument. Wise words from a playground monitor at my elementary school: back off, cool off, go get help hahaha.
Grateful: referrals!, a living prophet, our pday picnic, and my companion's obsession with Al Fox that rubbed off on me
tchau colegas,
