7.13.20: She's Got a Tahg...On Her Shouldah

We went back to Newport for pday and walked around with our new companions so they could see the pretty part of Rhode Island (: This random lady sitting on the beach was staring at us and she said in a super loud voice "what's she wearin? She's got a tahg on her shouldah!" We can't stop quoting that 1) bc it was hilarious and 2) we love trying to imitate the Boston accent.

We finally got our own copy of the church key because before this we were sharing it with the other sisters. The first time we tried to use it, we could not get it to turn and eventually had to call the sisters to let us in. After they opened the door we tried to see if the key would work again and my comp went outside to try it. I was laughing bc it was not working at all and then I let her back in and she told me to try it. I told her it wouldn't be any different but I would try. I walked outside and it opened on the first try and we couldn't stop laughing at my dumb luck. It does hurt your hand really bad to turn it though bc it's so hard. Apparently that happens a lot with new keys?

This week we had some pretty awesome lessons. Our friend Any recently had a nephew pass away and she is having a super rough time. We finally got her to meet with us again and we talked about the plan of salvation and how she will see her nephew again and he will remember her and still be learning and progressing. Sister Kent was able to share that even though her birth mom passed away after she was born, she knows that she will hug her again and be able to be with her forever ♡ It was such a good lesson and by the end we were all crying bc the spirit was so strong. The branch president's wife also helped us out and she shared a super cool experience as well. I was blown away by how amazing that lesson, over a pretty  spotty Wi-Fi connection, was able to turn out so well.

We have to do this thing called Facebook finding where we just friend and message random people that live in our area. It is pretty odd but this week we have had a few lessons with people we found on FB. Sometimes I do not feel like a missionary scrolling through people's profiles and laughing at the bad car photo shoots and selfies. Cape Verdeans and Brasilians have NO shame.

This week I have been reading a lot of conference talks and I put the links below for anyone who wants some good suggestions.

"Satan is anxious to confuse our thinking or to lead us astray on important matters like the operations of the priesthood of God"

"the Savior taught that mortal bodies can be full of light or full of darkness. We, of course, want to be filled with light, and our Savior taught us how we can make this happen. We should listen to messages about the truths of eternity...the light or darkness in our bodies depends on how we see—or receive—the eternal truths we are taught"  Dallin H Oaks.

This talk was really good and i love how he says that as we learn and accept eternal truths, we can be FULL OF LIGHT!
