6.8.20: I'll Stay Where You Want Me to Stay
^we had a devotional with Elder Bassett (some church leader) this week and he said this, which everyone thought was pretty funny. But also so true it kinda hurts. Hah.
Ok. So last time I emailed I think I was either in Brasil (rip) or home. Now I am in Rhode Island (!!!!!) , have a phone, use FB and we have a car. NEVER could have guessed that.
We are in a portuguese branch! Lots of people in this town are from cape verde and there are some Brazilians <3 too.
My new comp is named Sis. Lawlor and she is from Arizona. She has been here for 7 months and she has got the technology thing dialed which is nice for me.
We have to make FB vids every week which is pretty crazy. our first one we filmed in the rain and it was almost a train wreck but it worked out and we got to be outside so, worth it!
Quotes I liked:
"Keep your focus on Jesus Christ and don't do tasks simply to complete them, but remember your purpose" -mission president talking abt technology
This applies to everything in our lives though bc we all love to make ourselves do a LOT of stuff to feel productive but if we lose focus on our real purpose, we are totally missing the point!
"Repentance has a bad wrap. It is not a punishment, it is abt good people becoming better" -E. Bassett
My friend Rachel started a grateful list at the end of her emails and I'm gonna copy her!
*putting my name tag back on, pretty places on daily walks, speaking portuguese again!
Tchau,
Sister Barton
