3.2.20: Santos
Olá
So yesterday we talked to this crazy lady named Claudia. She literally said:
"I am not from a religion...I'm from THE STARS." (i don't even need to explain the rest, she was just super bizarre and the worst part is that we found her address in the old address book from Elders that were in our area with all caps and highlighted "ELEITO" (ELECT). idk what those elders were doing hahaha).
Afterwards I told my companion that I felt SO NORMAL, BC she said the weirdest voodoo. Thanks for that one, Elders.
I got transferred from Ubatuba to Santos! My new area is called Gonzaga and we live with 2 other sisters. One of them was in my ward at BYU and her name is Eliza and she's from California too. It's fun to live with other sisters and do stuff together.
It's also cool bc we live really close to the mission office so we actually do a lot more stuff as a zone and service projects and stuff. (BTW's when you're a missionary you actually like service projects bc it is something diff than the usual haha). We helped clean a new school that they renovated.
Last weekend and monday and tuesday was Carnaval here and we had to go home early a few of the days bc they didn't want us to be on the street. I didn't really see anything that cool and it def wasn't like the movie Rio, so don't get your hopes up. It was basically like Halloween. I saw people wearing random costumes walking around on the street.
I am dying to hear about what happened in Ubatuba this week bc Miriam was supposed to get baptized on Saturday!!! Pray for Ubatuba!
I saw a scripture this week that I really loved:
17 If ye know these things, ahappy are ye if ye do them. (john 13:7)
I thought this was super cool bc with the restored gospel, we have so much knowledge about the plan of salvation and the modern revelation of prophets. But we have to DO THESE THINGS if we want to have the happiness that the fullness of the gospel brings. I wrote this scripture in the front of my planejamento (planner) this transfer bc it is so important to remember that happiness comes in living the gospel daily and not in some outcome that we might have in our mind.
Also, I wanted to share this talk from Pres. Nelson about the BOM! I love it so much and I love the Book of Mormon. The more I read it the more sense it makes and the more happy I am. Everyone needs to read the Book of Mormon!
