1.27.20: Ubatuba (Yep I'm Still Here)
This week was another goody. We found this awesome lady named Isabel who was riding her bike on the street and she stopped to unlock her house. I talked to her and she invited us inside right then. We gave her a lesson about faith, repentance and baptism and she accepted a baptismal date. I was literally shocked that she said yes. She was crying almost the whole lesson and she told us that she knew it was an answer from God that we had stopped to talk to her that day.
God really does prepare people. One thing that I always have to remind myself is that our purpose is to teach and invite people, not prepare them. Sometimes it is so hard that everyone has their own option to choose and we cannot make anyone do anything. It is important to not be hard on ourselves for things that we can't choose and ultimately cannot control at all.
We started teaching the guy that helped us with my comp's flat tire and when we went to give him the BOM he told us that he was looking for a book to read. I said "well you found a good one" and then he said that the Book of Mormon found him. There are so many small things that happen that I usually forget but really they are small blessings in our long hot days here. God is so good.
The Ubatuba branch is hilarious and I unfortunately know everything about everyone. Every ward and branch has their problems, but it is so funny/horrible at the same time to know about everyone's probs. It also helps me a lot to realize how blessed I am and how "easy" my life is.
I wanted to invite everyone to read Joseph Smith History (like the prophet already said). It is so powerful to read exactly how the whole story went and the very end is one of the best parts. We went to the YW's lesson on Sunday and the topic was "why was the restoration necessary?". It really made me think about how important the Restoration was and how often the BOM talks about the Restoration (especially in 1 and 2 Nephi) .
tchau, (another random email has concluded)
