1.20.20: 7 Months- Yep

There's a different missionary couple that came to Ubatuba! This one has a car which just made my life wayyyy better. I don't have to take the 2 hour bus ride to district counsel anymore- it's only an hour in a car. They are from Uruguay and the first they said to my companion and I was "We want to be your grandparents". We accept. SCORE.

Driving in the car with them is hilarious because I have to give him directions in portuguese but he is still learning because they speak spanish. Also I think he is still learning how to drive too. Half the time he doesn't understand my directions and the other half I'm trying to explain that the bike lane is for bikes-not his car. haha

Our mission presidents came here and they told us that Saturday we could choose to do whatever we wanted (except swim). So we drove up the coast towards Rio and we stopped at a waterfall and saw a ton of unreal beaches. (have to scope it out for when I can fully enjoy it.) They took us to eat lunch and we walked by the beach. It was the weirdest thing ever and my comp and I kept saying "how are we gonna keep being missionaries after today"?
Oh yeah we also went for a run in the morning w/my mission president and he was literally wearing less clothes than I was. It was pretty funny. You really can´t guess what's gonna happen in this life. First golf, then a whole day with a morning run to boot. I think at the end I can write a book about random things that I've done w/my mission president.

HAPPY UPDATE FROM GUARUJÀ:
Valério and Helena both got baptized! They were two investigators from my first area and both of them recently got baptized. I am so happy for them and feel so blessed that I got to help them a little bit too! Helena's daughter got sealed in the temple last year and now she will be able to go with her daughter to the temple and understand what happened.

We taught a really odd lesson this week to a less-active man who's 35 and his mom and step-dad who live in a house behind his. His step dad is Russian and he told us that he has read the Book of Mormon in French, Portuguese and English but he thinks it's all a lie. It makes me so sad that people read the Book of Mormon to examine facts and try to prove it wrong. There is a fine line between faith and knowledge. I have learned a lot about this on my mission. We need to gain knowledge in this life, but we need to have faith too. It is so important to look at things with spiritual eyes and not just try to gain a testimony with facts.

38 ¶ Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named aMartha received him into her house.
39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.
40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art acareful and troubled about many things:
42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath achosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
I love this story because we get so worked up about so many things but we need to choose the better part which is keep the commandments and center our lives on Christ.
Hope everyone has a good week!

Pics--The Saturday "vacay" day with President and Sister Harman, including picture evidence of "the run."  Also, the last two pics are of the "English class" that Liza teaches to branch members. Must have also happened on that Saturday.
