11.25.19: Another Week in the Life

Quotes of the week:
"My pedals won't stop pedaling..." (me, bc my bike is kind of broken)

"you guys arrived at a really improper hour..the flamengo game is about to start" (a guy who denied us at the door)

This week we went to Santos again for another conference! This time we got to hear a seventy and his wife. (Elder Joaquin Costa). He talked about Mosiah 3:19 and one talk we read before was Elder Bednar's  "The Atonement and our journey through mortality" (it's super good. I recommend it for sure!) He talked about how the atonement has a purifying power and a capacitating power and how it is not just for bad people to become good but also good people to become better. It was a really awesome talk. Halfway through the talk he just randomly said "The church of Jesus Christ is the best." Also he and his wife sat by us at lunch which was really ironic bc of the other story last week. ha

The hike with the COBRA! The mission conference/gathering. Bus riding fer dayz. Compie selfie with helmets (remember when the 6 year old boy asked them if they were still learning to ride? Because helmets.). LIZA with LIZA oil!  So good. And the last pic is with Liza's first comp/trainer.  They got to meet up again at the conferences. Her name is Sister Bandeira. She told Liza at the conference that her dad had just passed away! Pray for her to have comfort and peace, please.

11.11.19: Uba-Chuva

^^It has been raining for like 5 days straight  {Apparently "Chuva" means rain in Portuguese. Thank you, Google!} this week in bad english clothing: a ladies t-shirt "CALL MY AGENT" (so random). Also, "I did not mean to offend you that was just a bonus"  There's a missionary couple here in our area that lives in the same apartment building as us. We don't have a water filter in our apt so we go there a few times a week to fill up water. They are super funny and the husband is really oblivious and the wife just orders him around and I die every time I see them. She was trying to tell us a story and her husband started talking and she shushed him for like 20 seconds straight " shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hh, let me tell the story, Elder."  And my comp and I could not keep it together. They were so confused why were laughing.  We asked him to install a fire alarm for us a few days ago and they came to our apt to do it ...

11.2.20: The "Lasts" Begin

  My last zone conf was underwhelming and over zoom, am I surprised at this point?  Some gold quotes from it:  "Pull your chair up to the lord's table and pull a chair up for a friend too" prez mav "It feels so good to do the right things for the right reasons"  We went back to the farm w/Bobby. Sis Simp and I pretty much carried pallets to a dumpster and then chucked them into the dumpster. It was a good time.  Our ward had a drive thru Halloween party and our friend Keity came with her 3 kids! It was fun to see all the ward members and me and my comps dressed up as the wizard of oz. I was the lion and Simp was Dorothy. Pretty legit for a missionary costume I guess.  We finally talked to Debbie! (The neighbor whose mail we got). It was #worththewait bc she is going through some rough stuff and really liked talking to us! We are hopefully meeting again on Wednesday!  I shared my departing testimony at our mission fast Sunday devotional which felt weird...

9.21.20: Pawtucket --> ♡ford, CT

  I got transferred! I am going to Hartford, Connecticut. I have been in Rhode Island this whole time so it will be interesting to see something new! I am sad to leave @Sister Kent, Russon and Sorge. RIP colegas.  Our friend Helder hasn't talked with us for about 2 weeks bc he has some crazy things going on in his life and the other day I decided to text him and then he said we could call him right then, so we did. We were able to help him feel better and he decided he is going to keep talking to us again, which made me so happy!  This week we got to help this family who owns a library/skatepark. They have a ton of donated books, so they have kids come and read for an hour and then they get to skate for an hour. We mopped all the skate ramps bc it's indoor and then dusted all the bookshelves. They are so Cool!  I have officially cut everyone's hair who lives in my apartment! I have no idea why they trust me to do that, but I guess I'm saying that if anyone ever needs...
