7.30.19 & 8.5.19: The Mint Green Shoes Era is Over....

I made it! We met our mission President and he is soooo nice! Also his wife is the cutest and she is learning Portuguese too which makes me feel so much better. They are from park city and he told me that his favorite golf course is pasatiempo so give it a long look for us. Love you allllllll muito muito muito!

8.5.19: The Mint Green Shoes Era is Over

i am now officially a teva wearing americana who is aprendendo {learning} portuguese so por favor falar mais devagar {please speak slowly}. I made it out of the CTM just in time to realize that as soon as something is gone you realize how good it was. I made some really good friends there and it was pretty nice to have everyone understand me when i was trying to talk to them. but guess that might happen again at some point. 

My first area is Guarujá. its a tiny little area outside of santos and you can take a ferry boat across to get to it. im not sure if it was the ocean or a river or maybe both but it was cool. my companions name is sister bandeira and she is from the north of brazil. she has already been out for 13 months and she is basically engaged so you could def say we are different phases of life or the universe. she is so patient and so nice to me. everyday she tells me that i am good at speaking portuguese so basically she is an angel bc that is def not true. 

today we bought an ice cream carton sized acai from the grocery store and went back to our apartment to put our own bananas and this peanut butter candy stuff on it that is just pb in powder form with sugar. or i guess the inside of a reese´s. 

also on friday there is a big farmers market type thing in the street by our apartment and we got apples, oranges, bananas, a pineapple, half a watermelon, a cucumber, and carrots and eggs for like 25 reais which is like 8 dollars or less. score. 

also my companion loves pipoca {popcorn} too so we make it almost everyday. the first night she made me popcorn and she opened the cupboard and the oil said LIZA on it and i freaked out and i was like woah thats funny and she was so confused bc i had to explain to her that my name is liza and i thought she knew that or something and decided to write my name on the oil. lucky me though,everyone loves LIZA in brazil. there are boxes everywhere too that say liza. 

my mission presidents are also new, they got here 3 weeks before i did. they are super cute and they are from park city. i told them i was from SC and he said NO WAY MY 3RD FAVORITE GOLF COURSE IS THERE! he told me that he just loves pasatiempo and i told him that i live like 2 minutes away from there and he was freaking out and then i told him that i have never tried golfing but i am glad he loves somewhere that is so close to my house. Also his only rules are to not die and to be happy. basically i  scored in the mission pres department. his wife is also adorable and she is learning portuguese too which really helps my self esteem but thats not very nice of me. i am just being real honest rn. 

we have already taught what feels like a billion lessons and it is so funny and probably so painful for everyone listening to me speak especially my companion. she just asks me a question to respond to bc i usually dont understand whats going on or she just gives me the missionary look like ok companion your turn and then i just testify of whatever i heard her talking about and then i look back and her like sorry sister. we are 90/10 when it comes to talking and i think you all know you is doing the 10%.

everything is really good though and i have learned so much!!! 

this week i want to invite everyone to read alma 5 because that chapter is chock full of sabedoria {wisdom}. i read it the other week and then i re read it because it is so good! love you all so much. thanks for reading this if you made it this far. you are all the real OG's.
